The Wolves wrestling team hosted their annual Dylan Humes Memorial tournament this past weekend. The battle for the buckle tournament had them competing against 29, 2A, 3A and 4A teams.
The tournament lasted two days and spanned across three facilities for the varsity, JV and girl's tournaments. As a team, the boys' varsity fought their way through the tournament placing in the top three, having four in the semifinals, one in the finals and many placers. Individual placers were:
2nd place – Riley DeHaven went 4-1 pinning his way into the finals where he put up a great fight against Gamas from Glasgow, MT but lost by decision 11-6.
3rd place - Braydnn Terry went 5-2 losing in the semi finals by decision and fought his way back into placing winning his consolation semifinals match with a pin in 1:12 and winning his 3rd place match with a pin in :49 seconds. Oliver Gorsuch pinned his way into the semifinals where he lost to put him in the consolation semifinals where he won with a pin to advance him into the placings where he won with a pin in 4:18 to place third.
4th place - Elyott Gorsuch went 3-2 pinning his way into the semifinals where he lost by decision. He came back in the consolation semifinals winning with a pin to move into the placings where he lost to place fourth.
5th place - Danner Wiseman went 5-2 winning his placing match by major decision 14-1. Trenten Gray went 4-2 losing in the semifinals and came back to wrestle the placing match where he won with a pin in 2:34.
6th place - Kade Haynes 3-3, Brady Garoutte 4-3 made his way into the quarterfinals where he lost by decision but fought his way back into the consolation semifinals and placing matches.
7th place - Weston Haskell 5-2.
Marcus Reynolds went 1-2, Kyler Summers 2-2, Troy Braun 2-2, Alex Haskell 1-2, Chayce Buckner 2-2, Jacob Anderson 3-2, and Preston Crozier 2-2.
As a team, the Wolves placed third under first place Thunder Basin and second place Kelly Walsh and above fourth place Sheridan. In individual stats for the tournament as a whole, Trenten Gray placed third for the fastest tech fall in 1:30 and fourth for the most single match points with 22.
High scorers for the Wolves were Riley DeHaven with 26 team points followed by Braydnn Terry with 23.5 and Oliver Gorsuch with 20 points.
On the JV side, the wolves wrestled in a round robin tournament at the Moorcroft Town Center on Friday. Individual results were,
4th place - Caden Cantu 2-2.
Caysen Phillips 1-2, Nathan Grant 1-2, Walker Allred 1-2.
Girls
On the girls' side of the tournament, as a team they placed 12th out of 27 teams scoring 60 points with nine wrestlers. Team results were, first place Baker, MT, second place Natrona County and third place Sheridan. Individual results were:
3rd place - Sydney Rozell went 5-2 losing in the first round and wrestled her way back through to the placing rounds winning her next three matches by pins and winning her consolation semifinals by decision 7-6 to move her into the placing match. There she won with a pin in 2:52 to place third.
4th place - Daytona Hannah went 3-2 winning her first two matches by pin to advance into the semifinals. There she lost to move her into the consolation semifinals where she won with a pin in :47 to advance her into the placing match. There she lost a tough match to place fourth.
6th - Liberty Cook went 3-3, Tessa Farsworth 2-3 won her first two rounds with pins and into the semifinals where she got sick and had to forfeit out of the rest of the tournament.
Ali Harr 1-2, Mary Anderson 0-2, Naomi Anderson 0-2, Nadia Harding 1-2.
High scorers for the Lady Wolves were, Sydney Rozell with 21 team points followed by Daytona Hannah with 18 and Tessa Farnsworth with 11.
