During the early morning hours of Monday, January 13, Moorcroft EMS received a call for a woman in active labor. The EMS crew that went on the call were all awarded with a certificate, stork pin and souvenir coin during the Moorcroft council meeting on January 22.
The EMS crew included EMT student Keona Huckins, firefighter and EMT student Devin Lind, fire-fighter Steve Miller, and paramedic Brad McKee.
The woman was traveling from Upton and met the crew at Coffee Cup since her contractions were so close together. During this call, the crew dealt with icy roads, snow and cold tempera-tures.
Campbell County EMS was also called but was delayed because of the road conditions; however, they were able to intercept Moorcroft EMS at Rozet.
After the intercept, the EMS crew knew that they were not going to make it to the hospital on time. They decided to pull over on the side of the road and deliver the baby.
The baby and the mom were both delivered safely to the hospital after the baby was born.
"We are grateful to the members who are willing give up family meals, events and leave warm beds to help provide emergency care to their fellow neighbors and community" stated Paramedic Brad McKee.
