The Wolves wrestling team traveled to Miles City, Montana this past weekend to compete in the 66th Annual Cowboy Invitational wrestling tournament. There, the team placed 10th out of 34 teams with one in the finals and a few in the placing rounds. Individual placers were:
2nd place: Oliver Gorsuch went 4-1 winning three of his four matches by pin to advance into the finals where he lost by fall to place second.
3rd: Riley DeHaven went 5-1 winning his first three matches by pin to advance into the semifinals where he lost by decision 7-2. He came back strong winning his consolation semifinals match by major decision 16-6 to move into the placings where he won by decision 5-1 to place third.
4th: Braydnn Terry went 5-2 losing in the quarterfinals by decision, to fight his way back through the consolation rounds and into the consolation semifinals where he won by decision 6-5 to advance into the placings. There he lost by decision 7-3 to place fourth.
6th: Brady Garoutte went 5-3 losing in the first round and wrestled his way back though six consolation rounds to make it into the placings where he placed sixth.
High scorers for the wolves were, Oliver Gorsuch with 26 team points followed by Riley DeHaven with 23 and Braydnn Terry with 18.
JV Results:
1st place: Alex Haskell went 3-0.
4th: Jacob Anderson.
5th: Weston Haskell, Nathan Grant, Troy Braun, Walker Allred, Preston Crozier.
6th: Caysen Phillips, Marcus Reynolds, Kyler Summers.
The Lady Wolves also competed in Miles City at the 4th Annual Cowgirl Invitational. Individual results were:
Ali Harr went 2-2, Liberty Cook 2-2, Daytona Hannah 3-3 lost in the quarterfinals and wrestled back through the consolations to the placing round where she finished in seventh place. Mary Anderson 0-2, Naomi Anderson 3-2, Sydney Rozell 4-2 making it into the placing matches where she won with a pin to place seventh.
Tessa Farnsworth 2-2, Nadia Harding went 5-2 wrestling through the consolation rounds to make it into the placing matches where she won with a pin in 0:53 to place seventh.
Next up for the Wolves wrestling teams is their home Dylan Humes Memorial tournament Friday and Saturday. Hosting to 30 teams from Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota.
Start times for the tournament are, Friday at 11 a.m. and Saturday at 9 a.m. with wrestling happening in the high school gym, K-6 gym and the Moorcroft Town Center.
