Year starts off with a storm

During the first week of the new year, Moorcroft and surrounding areas were in a winter weather advisory. However, the storm brought little snow and plenty of ice, wind, fog, and low tempera-tures.

These weather conditions caused icy roads, low visibility and wind chills. Due to these condi-tions, some accidents that occurred.

According to the weather reports from the National Weather Service out of Rapid City, SD, Gil-lette received 1.5 inches, Upton received 2 inches, while Sundance received 1.6 inches. These snow reports were based on January 3 through 5.
