Fire starts in chimney

On Monday, January 6, around 7:45 a.m., a concerned citizen reported a chimney on fire on East Converse St.

Thanks to the quick actions of the fire department, there was minimal damage.

Fire Chief Jeff Holberg says that the fire started due to a wood stove flue (chimney) being installed incorrectly.

Once the firefighters got on scene, they were able to quickly get the fire under control.

There was no major damage, and no one was harmed.

Chief Holberg offers the advice, “clean your chimneys and check your appliance drafts” to help reduce the risk of a fire starting at your home.
