Celebrating the true reason for Christmas

Wednesday evening, community members came together at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to celebrate the true reason for the Christmas season, the birth of the Savior, Jesus Christ. It began with a nativity walk featuring over 72 nativity displays and artwork. Community members then gathered together and watched a live nativity pageant put on by children and musicians from around the community. The cast for the pageant included: Tory Jenkins (Mary), Trell Fischbach (Joseph), Regan Burris (star), Paige Anderson (Angel), Jovie Towell, Ember Lawrence, Holley Fall, Zoey Fall (Multitude of angels), Brooke Anderson, Brayson Cronin, Tyler Jenkins (shepherds), Kiera Anderson (lamb), Ryder Gray, Max Towell, Houston Jenkins (the 3 Wise Men), and Voy Cox (Narrator). The Moorcroft High school art students and Mrs. Stroud painted the backdrops for the pageant. The musical portion of the pageant was provided by the Moorcroft High school music students and Mr. Towell with musical numbers given by Clara White, Valerie Mayfield, Naomi Anderson, Krizma Delfino and Nadia Harding, as well as congregational songs given by the community. The pageant was followed with a yummy finger food reception, and a visit from Santa Claus, who sat in the audience and met with children and families afterwards.

Many community members helped make this happen, including the parents who helped bring kids to rehearsals and helped with costumes.

Mr. Jenkins and Ms. Lovitt and the Whitcomb FFA provided leadership and help keeping the 'sheep'. Anita Tope, Mr. Towell and the musicians provided the angelic music and Mrs. Stroud and her students helped create the beautiful backdrops

Voy Cox narrated the story of our Savior's birth, Alyssa Jenkins organized the pageant and Alyson Nelson helped organize the nativity displays. Dianna Svalina, Renee Burris, Walt and Kathleen Campbell helped anywhere it was needed. Lori Manning helped with some of the costumes. Local church leaders and members helped spread the word and supported in many ways and many people helped set up and cleanup.

Merry Christmas!
