Holidays are in full swing

This year's celebration of holiday cheer is starting on Friday, December 6 and going through Sunday, December 8. There are activities for all ages located in Moorcroft and the surrounding area.

On Friday, the Moorcroft Branch Library will be hosting an ugly sweater decorating class. Attendees will need to bring a sweater, jacket or a piece of clothing they would like to decorate.

Saturday, the Whitcomb FFA Chapter is holding their annual Candy Cane Classic at the Jones' Town Center. During this event there will be a chili and cinnamon roll cook-off, ugly sweater contest, a silent auction and live music to dance to.

Also on Saturday, the Pine Ridge Community Church is holding their annual Church Bazaar. This event includes a potluck dinner starting at 6 p.m. After the meal Santa Claus will appear, followed by an auction, cake walk and fishing for treats station.

Sunday events that are available to the public are cookie decorating, toy drive, Storytime, Santa Claus, parade of lights and hot chocolate. Parking on Big Horn Avenue will be available with other events within walking distance.

These events start at 3:30 p.m. at the Moorcroft Branch Library with cookie decorating and Storytime. Later in the evening, the parade of lights will start at 5:30 p.m. on Big Horn Avenue.

Directly after the parade, Santa Claus is at the West Texas Trails Museum. Hot chocolate will be available in two locations on Sunday evening: West Texas Trails Museum and Mousse Lodge.

The chamber is partnered with Dollar General to put on a toy drive. Keep a lookout during the day for a trailer where toys can be dropped off. There is also a box located at Dollar General for donated toys.

To help bring the holiday cheer there will be a Christmas Lights contest. Judging was held on December 4, and the winner will be announced during the parade of lights.

Downtown Light Poles are ready for decorating; reach out to the Chamber to reserve a light pole. There is also a silent auction going on at the Moorcroft Branch Library where bids can be placed until December 13.
