Water main set to be replaced this spring breaks, leading to three-hour repair project
During the day of Tuesday, November 26, a water main break occurred on Powder River Ave between the streets of Crook and Goshen. The Moorcroft Public Works employees, with the assistance of Glenn Construction, were able to repair the infrastructure in three and a half hours.
Shortly after noon, a concerned citizen reported water bubbling out of the street. Once hearing this report, water was shut off to residences in that area for crews to fix the break.
When asked about the damage, Public Works Director Scott Green stated, "It was about 25 to 30 gallons a minute". With the water being shut off to the area, crews were able to get the damage under control.
As the break is believed to have been caused by aging infrastructure, Green stated, "Powder River water line is going to be replaced coming this spring".
