High school athletes from Sundance, Pine Haven and Oshoto compete
The Sundance Kids Trap Team, a part of the Wyoming Clay Target League, enjoyed the mild summer-like fall days to complete their short, five-week season.
Shooters shot each week, starting in September and ending in October. Final scores and season end results were tallied and released on November 4.
This fall season saw ten athletes from Sundance, Pine Haven and Oshoto gathering each week to shoot 50 targets for score. Students from grades 6th through 12th were represented and showed a lot of promise for the spring season.
Top shooters Halden Harmon and Elliot Hege averaged just over 18 targets hit each round. Hadley Burch, Kasen Carlson, Nolan Gaskin, Alex Purcell, McKinnon Purcell, and Gus Wood all contributed to team points throughout the season.
New shooters, CJ Koep and Zach Williamson, started this fall and each week their scores and confidence increased.
Although the Sundance Kids ended up last in their conference for the fall season, several of the students shot their best recorded scores and continue to improve. The students and coaches are anxious for the spring season to begin so the momentum can continue.
With the fall season coming to a close, coaches and athletes now turn their focus towards their annual fundraiser. For the third year, the trap team will host a gun show at the Sundance Fairgrounds.
Scheduled for December 14-15, team members will help with the set-up, tear down and offer concessions to raise money to offset the cost of targets and ammunition used during the fall and spring seasons.
For more information on being a vendor at the show, please contact Kyndell Schell at (307) 290- 2040. The event is open to the public and the team would love to see you there. Pull!!
