Randy Kay Pridgeon, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Sundance on October 31, 2024, at the age of 72. Born in Windom, Minnesota, on March 23, 1952, Randy was the cherished only daughter of W.B. and Leora Porter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her little brother, Durand; and her grandparents.
Randy spent her formative years in Mankato, Minnesota and Rapid City, South Dakota, before attending Black Hills State College, where she earned her degree in social work. Her thirst for knowledge and dedication to her work led her to further studies in medical technology and coding.
Known for her warmth, wit and zest for life, Randy's hobbies included knitting, gardening, cooking, rock hounding, camping and traveling.
Above all, she loved reading and sharing laughter with her loved ones, especially through her playful banter with her children, grandchildren and one and only cherished son-in-law.
Randy contributed greatly to her community as a former owner of the Jack and Jill Shop in Sundance. She also worked and brought her compassionate spirit to her role as Social Director at the local hospital, then Sundance Assisted Care, later retiring from Sundance State Bank to enjoy traveling and her family.
Randy leaves behind a loving family who will miss her dearly: her devoted husband, Richard Pridgeon; her daughters, Jenny Lynn Merchant and her favorite son-in-law Brendon Merchant; and Megan Marie Pridgeon; and her grandchildren, Brady Merchant, Madison Merchant, Alexis Merchant and Hudson Pridgeon.
To celebrate Randy's life and share fond memories, the family will host an afternoon gathering with coffee, tea and cookies November 16 from 1-4 p.m. in the Sundance courthouse basement.
