Our loved one, Carrol Ann (Engle) Ellis, age 80, from Moorcroft, Wyoming, passed away peacefully at her home in Moorcroft on October 30, 2024. She spent her final days surrounded by family and friends that loved her.
Carrol Ann Engle was born on November 26, 1943, in New Haven, Wyoming to parents Jay Engle and Martha (Stinson) Engle. She grew up in Upton, Wyoming where she attended all her years of school.
She graduated from Upton High School in 1962. After graduation, on June 30, 1962, Carrol Ann married Billy E. Ellis at the Baptist Church in Upton.
They began their married life in Clareton, Upton, and eventually settled in Moorcroft as their forever home. Shortly later, they began their family including four children Doug (1963), Vicky (1964), Lisa (1967) and Dena (1969), and later Brian (1970) joined the family.
Carrol and Bill spent many years raising their children, attending countless school activities, camping and hosting many family gatherings.
After her children got older, Carrol Ann took a job with the Crook County School District as a cafeteria cook. Carrol Ann fed the children of the Moorcroft community for 30 years, retiring in 2008. She truly enjoyed her title as "the lunch lady" given to her by the students.
After her retirement, she did not slow down. She enjoyed many activities, such as crocheting blankets for family and friends, traveling, camping, volunteering at the Moorcroft preschool, trips to Deadwood and having coffee with her Tuesday coffee crew.
Family and friends were especially important to Carrol Ann. She is survived by her children, Doug (Vicki) Ellis, Vicky Green, Lisa (Luke) Lovett, Dena (Willy) Gonzalez and Brian Griffin; her siblings Norman (Peggy) Engle and Lindy (Janis) Engle. She is also survived by her grandchildren Paul Ellis, Brandon Bettencourt, Alisha Gonzalez, Cole Ellis, Kortney Lovett, Kelsey Miller, Luke Lovett, Sydni Green, bonus grandchildren Denton and Blake Griffin and her precious great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy E. Ellis, her parents, Jay and Martha (Stinson) Engle, her siblings Lois Beckton, Cleo Engle, Ivan Engle, Garry Engle and Dixie Olinger.
Funeral services were Monday, November 4, 2024 at the Moorcroft Town Center, officiated by Pastor Donovan Voight. Burial service followed at the ceremony at Moore Hill Cemetery in Hulett, Wyoming.
