Oct. 14-20

On Oct. 15, officers arrived on the scene to assist Moorcroft emergency services. The officer remained on scene until the patient was en route to the hospital. Nothing further.

On Oct. 16, a call was made to the police station requesting a welfare check. The officer reached out to the individual, who was feeling down but reported that they were doing okay. The officer encouraged them to call if they had any thoughts of self-harm and offered to help find assistance. Nothing further.

On Oct. 16, all officers were on duty to manage traffic for the Homecoming Parade. Nothing further.

On Oct. 16, an officer was called to unlock a vehicle at a business. The officer successfully unlocked the vehicle. Nothing further.

On Oct. 17, authorities conducted a civil standby for an individual to collect personal belongings from the residence. Nothing further.

On Oct. 18, officers provided a civil standby for an individual to retrieve personal belongings from the residence. The situation remained peaceful. Nothing further.

On Oct. 19, while on patrol, officers observed what appeared to be a ferret. However, upon closer inspection, it was discovered to be a muskrat. The officers attempted to capture the muskrat for custody, but it tried to evade them. At one point, the muskrat became combative, charging at one of the officers while standing on its hind legs and attempting to bite the officer’s foot and leg. Officers ordered the muskrat to stop resisting and were eventually able to apprehend it for violating the town ordinance 2-201 regarding keeping livestock within town limits. The muskrat was transported to the Moorcroft Rest Area, where it was released. Fortunately, no animals or officers were injured during the apprehension, transport or release. Nothing further to report.

On Oct. 20, officers provided an escort for the junior high volleyball team following their district victory. Nothing further.

On Oct. 20, officers were on-site at the Homecoming dance to administer breathalyzer tests.

On Oct. 20, an officer was dispatched to a call about an individual who had lost their wallet. After speaking with the person, it was unclear whether the wallet had been lost or taken, so they wanted to review the video footage. In the meantime, the wallet was returned to the individual; however, some credit cards were missing. The investigation is ongoing. Nothing further at this time.

On Oct. 20, an officer was called to unlock a vehicle at a business where an individual accidentally locked their keys and baby inside the car while getting gas. The officer successfully unlocked the vehicle. Nothing further.
