Texas Trails no longer a snow route

After hearing feedback from residents, council votes to remove the subdivision

Moorcroft’s governing body has been considering removing the Texas Trails Subdivision from the municipal snow route due to the continued parking issues with residents and has now decided to do so.

Last week, the town allowed guests from the subdivision to speak to the matter at a public hearing within the regular meeting of the council.

Jerry Fishbach addressed the council regarding the situation, stating that an emergency snow route within the development “is absolutely ridiculous”. He expressed his opinion about residents being penalized for parking their vehicles at the curb five months of the year (November 1-April 1), 12 hours a day, as a “burden”.

People who do not comply with this ordinance may be and have been cited, “when the sun is shining and the roads are dry”.

An advocate for “common courtesy” said, “If the [plow driver] has something out there they’re going to have to plow around, the [vehicle owner] can be courteous enough to move it.”

While a number of suggestions were put forth to remedy the problem, the easiest at this time was simply to remove the designation and, after a few more comments, the hearing was closed and the regular meeting reconvened, allowing the council members present to vote to remove Texas Trails Subdivision from the emergency snow route.
