The Voice of the Community Since 1909, Serving Moorcroft and Pine Haven, Wyoming
West Texas Trail Museum (WTTM) Director Cindy Mosteller has a lot on her plate, starting with a visit to the museum from the Crook County Tourism Promotion Board along with the Wyoming Tourism Board on Tuesday, October 1.
These two facilitating agencies are important to the local economy. The tourism board is funded by the lodging tax within the county; two percent returns to Crook County and the board uses this money to advertise local businesses with things like the window works at the front of the museum.
However, the Wyoming Tourism Board, which receives another two percent of this tax and distributes funds throughout the state, is to find out what Crook County has to offer on a larger field, according to Mosteller.
Recently, the local board even brought in a group of international tour directors (think of the busses of people that stop at Devils Tower), these are the coordinators of the destinations offered. They are planning to add Moorcroft to their itinerary as the busses travel through the county.
"We'll have some bus groups stopping here next year," Mosteller stated. "It's very exciting!"
