Texas Trails car show returns to Tower

The Texas Trail Cruisers Car Club, with the help of Devils Tower Country, is hosting their annual car show at the Devils Tower KOA Campground (just before the monument’s entrance) on Saturday, August 17, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Last year, this event welcomed 127 entries from around the Midwest and, since 2005, 1578 cherished automobiles have been shown. The show’s inception took place at Robinson Park, in 2003.

Club secretary Carolyn Holberg recalls, “It was rainy and windy and we had about six to eight vehicles.”

The Texas Trail Cruisers Car Club started as a family-oriented organization by local enthusiasts. With the family in mind, in 2001 and to this day, one of their works for the youths within the community is the establishment of scholarships for high school graduates in the area.

This year, too, the club is accepting donations for the Moorcroft Interfaith Community (MIC) Food Pantry, helping people in the neighborhood feed themselves and their families each day.

In 2004, the club, growing ever larger, accepted an invitation from campground owner Matt Driskill to move the program there. After his death, present owner Ogden Driskill allowed the club to continue the show at the campground.

Those interested in participating this Saturday are encouraged to call Jeff at 307-756-2292 or Randy at 307-756-2066 for registration fees and logistics. More information can also be found on the Texas Trail Cruisers Car Club Face Book page or email [email protected].
