Earl William Gstohl, 69, of Pine Haven, Wyoming, died at home, Wednesday, July 17,2024.
Earl was born in Billings, Montana, on May 13, 1955 to Laurel and Florence Gstohl. He was the second of seven siblings, Linda, Earl, Laura, Gary, Lois, Brenda and Bryon.
He graduated from Park High School in Livingston, Montana, in 1974 and followed his dad's footsteps, going to work for BNSF Railroad, mostly as an engineer and retired after 42 years with them.
Earl married Donna Herauf in 1975 and they had one daughter, Heather, who gave them two grandchildren, Faith and Elija. Later, Earl and Donna divorced.
He lived in several places including Hot Springs, South Dakota and Gillette, Wyoming, finally finding his forever home in Pine Haven. He met the love of his life, Mary Ann Jorgenson and they were married in 2004 and he inherited three more daughters, Shelly, Kristy and Darcy, and 13 more grandchildren.
Earl's health had declined for several years and, after a stay at Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, South Dakota, he was released to home hospice, where he spent the next 48 days with family, friends, a hospice nurse and volunteers until his passing.
Earll is survived by his wife, Heather Johnson; daughters, Shelly (Bruce) Abernathey, Kristy (Tony) Nelson and Darcy (Gary) Zappa; sisters, Linda, Lois, Laura and Brenda; brother, Bryon; and several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and stepson Jeffrey.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
