Moorcroft prepares for Jubilee

After a great start Tuesday evening with goat roping at Deere Haven, the Culpepper and Merriweather circus on Wednesday and Family Fun Night on Thursday, Friday brings in the Diamond Jubilee weekend!

At noon, the Adventure Zone inflatable Carnival welcomes everyone to Robinson Park for games and the jump house. Guests are reminded that games are not free.

Starting at 5 p.m., People can stroll through the Classic Car and Shine Show, the vendor show still at Robinson Park before moseying over to Dewey's Bar for live music from the Stateline Ramblers.

Those with a thirst for an old-fashioned Ranch Rodeo are invited to drop into the Moorcroft Rodeo Grounds next to the rest area west of town, also at 5 p.m.

Guests are encouraged to get some rest so they can enjoy Saturday's fun, starting at 6:30 a.m. with a prayer for America around the flagpole on South Big Horn Avenue followed by a Chuckwagon Breakfast at 7 a.m., at the West Texas Trail Museum.

Those who want to participate in the 5K Run/Walk, starting at Robinson Park, should be on site at 7:30 a.m.

Folks may bring a chair, an umbrella for shade and prepare to enjoy the parade traveling the length of Big Horn Avenue, starting at 10 a.m.

The Adventure Inflatable Carnival will still be set up for fun at Robinson Park, opening for the day at 10:30 a.m., at the same time as the Volleyball Tournament begins on the other side of the park.

The Cornhole Tournament will start at 11:30 a.m. on South Big Horn Avenue while the Community Barbecue begins serving at the Moorcroft Fire Hall. At noon, people can enjoy Live Music by local musicians at Robinson Park.

The West Texas Trail Museum will host former US President Teddy Rosevelt as he talks about his life in office and before at the museum at 1 p.m. Immediately after the Rosevelt Program, those interested in meeting current candidates are invited to the museum at 2.

Returning to the rodeo grounds, the Riverside Bronc Ride will be mounting up at 3 p.m. and then, back to South Big Horn Avenue, at 7 p.m. for the Bed Races before ending the eventful day with a street dance at 8:30 p.m.

Sunday morning starts with a Three Man Golf Tournament, at Keyhole Country Club, in Pine Haven, at 9 a.m. and a Community Worship Potluck, at Robinson Park, at 11:30 a.m. with a worship concert at noon.

At 1 p.m., a Slip and Slide Kickball and Fun Day will be held at the Westview Park baseball field with a Barbecue Cook-off and a Flag Football Tournament.

Thus, closing the day on the Moorcroft's 60th Jubilee.
