On May 21, 2024, Earl Elvin Rush passed away at the Crook County Long Term Care Facility with his grandson and wife at his side.
Elvin was born on January 9, 1935, near Moorcroft, Wyoming, to Earl Jacob and Addie Marie (Moon) Rush. He graduated from Hulett High School and then entered the U.S. Army where he was stationed in England for one year and in the States for the remainder of his service. Elvin worked various jobs throughout his lifetime including Highway Maintenance Supervisor for the State of Wyoming, logging, Crook County Road and Bridge Supervisor, Crook County Fire Warden, and Quality Agg Quarry Manager. Elvin enjoyed woodworking, reading, traveling, and "fixing" things. He and Eva had planned to travel after their retirement, but Alzheimer's took its toll on him.
Elvin was a kind and caring man who loved his family unconditionally. He is survived by his wife, Eva; son Todd (Nancy) Rush; daughter, Pam Garman; his step-children, Marsha (Rob) Connour and Dane (Trisha) Willey; grandchildren, Sondrena (Gordon) Dobson, Torey (Katie) Rush, Taylor Garman, Tessa Garman and Jaycee Garman, Hailee (Josh) Lumbardo, Brayden (Lynn) Connour, Cole Connour, Jaxton and Colter Willey; great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Sutton Dobson, Kymber Rush, Memory Salisbury, Hayezn Hallcroft, Ty and Rae Lumbardo, and Brynn Connour.
Preceded in death by his daughter Becky and son Wade, son-in-law Ross Garman, step-daughter Lisa Gibbs and step-granddaughter G. Jaidyn Gibbs, his parents and sisters Sylvia Wegner and Ellen Payne.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at the Church of Christ in Sundance. Inurnment will follow at Mr. Moriah Cemetery with full military honors. A memorial has been established to benefit the Sundance Volunteer Fire Department.
