Matthew Albertson, coach for the Lady Wolves basketball team, commented on the weekend’s efforts, “The girls played very well. We will focus on the small things this week and competing. It will be these details that are needed to moving on in the regional tournament.”
Wolves’ boys basketball coach Nick Redden shares his thoughts on his team as they approach the last games of the season.
“We finished the season off versus Wheatland and had a nice first half, we had a lot of guys step up to that one. Wheatland ended up getting us, but I think we got some things put in order coming into the weekend of regionals,” he says.
“We’ll play our first round versus Douglas, which is one of the top teams in the state, but we’ll have some things prepared for them and we’ll see where that goes. We’re going to surprise some people, just like we did at last year’s regionals. That’s still the plan right now.”
In particular, Redden is proud of the team’s spirit and self-motivation.
“This has got to be one of the first teams in 20 years that you don’t have to help motivate going into the post-season,” he says.
“They’ve stuck through it every day with the exact same type of intensity and that makes a coach even more excited to go on to regionals. This is a special group of boys and I’m proud to coach them.”
