'Tis the season

The run-up to Christmas is upon us, with plenty of local events to enjoy as Santa prepares his sleigh.

The Moorcroft Area Chamber of Commerce will present its annual Parade of Lights on December 10 on Big Horn Avenue at 5 p.m. Hot cocoa bars will be available at Mousse Lodge and the West Texas Trails Museum, while Santa himself will be at the museum for cookies and greetings after the parade.

If you’d like to decorate a downtown light pole for the season, the chamber is also offering opportunities to do so.

“There is a prize for best decorated light pole,” says Krissy Hinkhouse.

Decorations should be placed by December 4 and must be taken back down by January 1. The town will be hanging snowflakes and ask that your decorations stay below this level.

Electricity and outlets will be available at each pole.

Finally, you can show off your decorating skills with the Christmas Lights Contest, with cash prizes for the residential and business winners. Judging will take place on December 6 and winners will be announced at the museum after the Parade of Lights.

For more information or to sign up for the lights contest or “adopt” a light pole, contact Hinkhouse at (307) 629-1264 or Lisa Good at (307) 756 2405.
