Pine Haven looks at smoking in public

Pine Haven is exploring the possible advantages of creating an ordinance governing smoking in public areas, including town parks and streets. According to Mayor Karla Brandenburg, a resident had spoken with Councilwoman Emily Smith on the matter.

"She had been asked to bring to the council the question of passing a non-smoking ordinance for any public place in Pine Haven, like many towns have passed," Brandenburg says.

This idea is still in question mode: what would the ordinance look like and how was the enforcement of said law received in the communities in which it has been adopted, for example?

While every member of the governing body voiced their willingness to examine this possibility further, the mayor later said of this process, "We would like to talk with the businesses that will be affected as the first part of our research and we have asked our town clerk to look into other towns' ordinances for some ideas on how to approach this."
