The Voice of the Community Since 1909, Serving Moorcroft and Pine Haven, Wyoming
The public is invited to get down with a pitchfork fondue dinner as the West Texas Trail Museum (WTTM) celebrates their 14th annual Heritage Roundup Saturday, September 16; Happy Hour starts at 5 p.m. with dinner at 6.
This year's theme is "Boots and Bling" and guests are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes for the dancing after dinner as the Ramblin' Rangers from Hot Springs, SD entertains guests with live music. Many great items will be available in the live and silent auctions.
This annual fundraiser is an integral part of the support needed for the museum's existing infrastructure as well as great things to come. According to Museum Director Cindy Mosteller, one of the future benefits of fundraisers such as this is currently in the works.
"We have purchased the two vacant lots north of the museum and we are in talks with the owner of the house directly behind the museum – expansion is coming to the West Texas Trail Museum and we are calling it Heritage Park," she says.
"It will embrace outdoor exhibits (blacksmith shop, carriage shop, saloon, mercantile, school house and maybe a teepee) and a covered pavilion to hold our events. This is where we need your help – any donations will help us get this project started. For more information contact any board member or [Cindy]."
The WTTM and their associate organization, the Moorcroft Historical Society, have been an integral part of the community for 32 years, providing programs that teach and share the pride that comes with knowledge of Moorcroft's past. Every year, around 2500 guests visit the museum as well as students and teachers.
Tickets are available at the museum and event organizers are still accepting baskets for the silent auction; for more information, please contact Cindy at 756-9300.
