The Voice of the Community Since 1909, Serving Moorcroft and Pine Haven, Wyoming
Are you ready? Another exciting year of LOGOS is about to begin, with the theme, “Parables of Jesus.” Students, their families, and staff will journey together into the many biblical lessons Jesus taught His disciples through the use of parables.
LOGOS, a non-denominational program aptly described as “Christ-centered Fun”, is for the entire family. Elementary age students (and pre-school students, if accompanied by an adult) are invited to participate in recreation, worship and Bible study each Wednesday between 4 and 6:45 p.m., while similar junior and senior high activities will begin at 6:15 p.m. and conclude at 8:30 p.m.
Included in the regular LOGOS activities is a family-style meal served at 6:15 p.m. Parents, grandparents and guardians are invited to attend any and all elements of the LOGOS evening, and are especially encouraged to enjoy supper with their children and the rest of the LOGOS family.
The 2023-24 LOGOS kick-off and Bike Rally will be on Wed., Sept. 13 at the First Presbyterian Church. Immediately after school on the 13th, LOGOS approved volunteers will meet elementary age students in the hallway near the north exit, and escort students to the church for registration and then to the MTC south parking lot for the Bike Rally.
All youth are invited to bring a bicycle, tricycle, skate boards, rollerblades or scooter that day. Don’t forget your helmet.
The Rally will consist of various courses to challenge and develop skills. A Moorcroft Police Officer will also be there to get to know the youth and talk about safety issues.
At 5:40 p.m., students will be taken back to the First Presbyterian Church at 100 South Belle Fourche Avenue for a time of Worship and supper at 6:15 p.m. This is a great way to begin the fun of a new LOGOS year and is the perfect time to celebrate all that God has done in our community and will continue to do! Students, please plan to invite a friend and join in the festivities.
During supper, parents can register their youth and have their questions answered. Normally, each LOGOS evening will be complete with snacks, physical activity, time to complete homework for those who need it, worship, Bible study and supper.
All youth who come for supper will be expected to be with supervising adults whenever they are in the building, even if that means going to a class for younger students.
While students may join at any time during the LOGOS year, initial registration will be from 4-7 p.m. on Sept. 13. Registration forms and medical releases for all students attending LOGOS are required. The 13th will provide a great opportunity to do this, as well as find out more about the LOGOS program, meet the volunteer staff and join in fellowship with the LOGOS community.
Junior and senior high students will also join in the family style meal, and begin their recreation, worship and study at approximately 6:45 p.m.
Please know there is tuition which helps to sustain the many components of the LOGOS program. Tuition is $40 per semester for the first family member, $30 per semester for the second family member, and $20 per semester for each addition family member – not to exceed $110 per family per semester.
However, no child will be denied enrollment in the LOGOS program. Scholarships are available and will be arranged in case of need. As well, payment plans can be arranged. All financial arrangements will be kept confidential.
If you have questions about the LOGOS program, or if you are looking for ways to get involved in LOGOS and contribute your God-given gifts to the program, please call Pastor Monte 217-251-1182 or email [email protected]. Hope to see you there!
