The Voice of the Community Since 1909, Serving Moorcroft and Pine Haven, Wyoming
Only two members remain in action committee, making it difficult to continue operations
Moorcroft’s Parent Action Committee (PAC) started nearly 13 years ago with teachers and parents joining forces in planning, organizing and facilitating activities beyond the classroom.
However, with only two remaining members, the committee is looking at disbanding. This possibility impacts the entire community as PAC is responsible for many of the events folks have become accustomed to enjoying with their kids.
There have been many activities over the years, but the most recognized are Frozen Food and T-Shirt sales, providing merchandise for the community and funds for PAC to pay for further activities; Spelling Bee and Science Fair, showcasing the brainy side of Moorcroft’s students; Missoula Children’s Theater, for the musically inclined; Treat Street and Game Night, for scream and fun therapy; Teacher/Staff Appreciation meals; and Gift Trees.
Each activity brings different fun learning experiences for everyone. Bringing school and community together outside of the academic schedule to provide a way to enjoy a safe, fun environment and to show support for one another.
Throughout their 13 years of working with the schools and the town, PAC has upheld their original mission of ensuring safe avenues of fun for the children as they give the youth of Moorcroft places and events to shine during the year.
Allison Ver Burg, one of the remaining two members of PAC, spoke to the soon-to-be-no-longer group: “I would like to think the activities will continue, but honestly, as the saying goes ‘It takes a village’...We cannot do it alone; plus, new people bring new ideas and new ways of thinking – and will be welcomed.”
