Aug. 7-13

On August 10, police were called regarding two thefts that took place at Coffee Cup Fuel Stop and Subway. A clerk at each business was the victim of a “quick change scam” in which the suspect asked the cashiers to make change on a large bill. By using the large bill, the scammer then quickly asks for several cash exchanges confusing the cashiers, ultimately leaving each establishment with more money than they started with. A total of $450 was stolen between two businesses. Officer took the description of the suspect and their vehicle and advised Campbell County and Gillette PD to be on the lookout for the suspect and vehicle as they were seen headed westbound on I-90. Nothing further at this time.

On August 11, police were notified of a gas theft at Diehl’s Supermarket, report was taken. With no definitive information on the suspect, vehicle or direction of travel, police are unable to track down the suspect. Nothing further.

On August 12, police assisted Campbell County EMS on an emergency call.

On August 13, police assisted Wyoming Highway Patrol on I-90 for a report of a vehicle being driven in the wrong lane. Officer located the vehicle and contacted the driver who was headed westbound in the eastbound lane at approx. mile marker 153. Officer determined that the driver was not under the influence of any substance but was elderly, tired and confused. Officer and WHP Trooper escorted the driver to the rest area so they could rest for the night. Nothing further.
