The Voice of the Community Since 1909, Serving Moorcroft and Pine Haven, Wyoming
Inviting everyone who loves to watch amazing fireworks burst in the dark skies over the reflective waters of Keyhole Reservoir to Pine Haven's the annual Fireworks Over the Lake Saturday evening, July 1. Entrance at the Coulter Bay Keyhole Park gate is free for the event, beginning at 8 p.m.
This event is hosted by the Pine Haven Volunteer Fire Department and is their largest fundraiser each year, helping to dress their firefighters with quality bunker gear, breathing apparatus, etc. to better ensure surviving the flames with which they battle.
This year, though, members are asking for volunteers for the post-celebration cleanup on Sunday, July 2.
"We make a pretty big mess with all the debris from the fireworks at the launch site," Fire Chief TJ Gideon explained the request for help. "If we get enough people, we can knock that out in an hour."
Everyone will meet at the fire hall at 8 a.m.
In previous years, the department cleaned the entire space themselves, starting immediately after the event ends and working until the early morning hours and back onsite at 6 a.m. to finish. The chief hopes to alleviate some of that stress with the help of volunteers.
