Moorcroft Police Report

April 3-23, 2023

On April 3, police assisted a vehicle owner who had locked their keys in their vehicle. Officer was able to gain access to the vehicle for the owner.

On April 7, police received a report of an alarm at a business in town. Officer arrived on scene and found nothing out of the ordinary. It was determined to be a false alarm.

On April 7, police received a report of two women fighting at a residence in town and a child was also involved. Officer arrived on scene to find two females arguing. One stated it was a physical altercation, the other denied anything physical. Officer was unable to prove a physical altercation had occurred. Officer stood by while one female packed essential items to leave the home. Officer conducted a civil standby later that evening to gather belongings. Nothing further.

On April 8, police received report of a suspicious person around the Moorcourt Apartment building. Officer spoke with the owner who stated they would like to trespass the person from the property. Officer located the subject and advised them of the complaint and trespass warning. Nothing further.

On April 8, police received a REDDI report on a vehicle headed into Moorcroft from Highway 14. Officer located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop due to failure to maintain lane of travel. Officer spoke with the driver and after determining the driver was not impaired, officer issued a warning for lane use and cleared from the scene.

On April 8, police were called regarding a possible rabid animal around S. Big Horn and Railroad Ave. Officer searched the area and then kept an eye out the entire shift but was unable to locate any sick looking animals.

On April 8, police gave a courtesy ride to a homeless individual who needed a ride to the bus station in Gillette.

On April 8, police were requested to conduct a welfare check on an individual who made threats to hurt themselves. Officer went to the subjects’ home and contacted them. Officer observed no indication of self-harm or any intent and cleared.

On April 9, police were requested to conduct a welfare check. Reporting party advised they thought this person may be arguing with their boyfriend and they were worried it may get physical. Officer contacted the individuals, and they were not arguing, Officer cleared.

On April 10, officer served a trespass notice to an individual to stay off a property within town limits.

On April 10, officer served two individuals’ papers for Moorcroft Municipal Court.

On April 11, police assisted a vehicle owner who had locked their keys in their vehicle. Officer was able to gain access to the vehicle for the owner.

On April 12, police were contacted regarding an incident that took place at the Moorcroft Bus Barn. A parent went to the barn and was screaming at Crook County School District staff. After being told multiple times to leave, the parent vacated the premises. Officer cited the individual for Breach of Peace, and they were later served a trespass notification.

On April 12, police received a complaint of loud music at a home on N. Little Horn Ave. Officer contacted the homeowner and asked them to keep the music down as they were disturbing their neighbors, and they agreed. Nothing further.

On April 15, police were advised of an attempted break in at Centennial Apartments. Officer spoke with the complainant and took a description of the person who allegedly attempted to break into the apartment. Officer did not observe any signs of an attempted break-in and patrolled the area looking for anyone matching the description given and was unable to locate.

On April 15, police assisted Moorcroft Ambulance Service on emergency call.

On April 15, officers assisted Moorcroft High School during their prom festivities by checking students with intoximeters prior to the dance beginning. No students tested positive.

On April 16, police were requested to conduct a welfare check on a resident. Officer was able to contact the resident, and all was well. Nothing further.

On April 20, police were notified of vandalism at the Moorcroft High School FFA Barn. Investigation is continuing.

On April 20, police were called to Coffee Cup for an unaccompanied toddler. Upon arrival, officer met with an employee of the store and a citizen who knew the child and had contacted the child’s parent. It was determined that the toddler had snuck out of the house. Child was reunited with parent, officer cleared from scene.

On April 20, police assisted Moorcroft Ambulance Service on an emergency call.

On April 21, police assisted Moorcroft Ambulance Service on an emergency call.
