Public works anticipates spring

Public Works Director Cory Allison recently discussed this season's projects for which he is planning.

For the kids

The long awaited splash pad at Noonan Park will be a jewel in the town's recreational accomplishments and Allison is optimistic, "It should be coming out for bid [shortly] and we're hoping to have it done by the end of summer."

The director is currently addressing a possible new playground set for the Texas Trails Park in the next fiscal year's budget, though council has not approved the purchase as of yet, "That's on our wish-list."

Infrastructure

The Powder River Sanitation Sewer Project will be presented to the State Land and Investment Board (SLIB) this fall, according to Allison, "That is the last phase of [the project]."

Budget

On the agenda for the 2023/24 budget workshops in the next couple of months, Allison said the he and Mayor Ben Glenn plan to discuss with council "a few ideas about how we want to do some stuff... getting the cemetery in order... with the new expansion." He suggested the probable necessity of phasing this work.

As for the MTC, "We're going to move there, we've just got to see what the cost is and how we're going to go about it. I'd like to see us up there by the end of summer, but I don't know if it's going to happen."

The director is realistic, though, about the projects he hopes to see accomplished, "It all takes money and we just need to see what we can do."
