Wolves Wrestlers fare well at Greybull

The Wolves wrestling team had a busy week of competition. On Tuesday, they traveled to Rapid City to dual Rapid City Central, where they came out on top, winning 52-21.

On Friday, they went to Lovell and there, they dueled both Lovell and Tongue River, again coming out on top with a dual score of 15-64 against Lovell and 6-66 against Tongue River.

On Saturday, the Wolves competed with 14 teams in the Greybull Memorial Invitational. There, they had eight in the finals, six champions and took first place as a team.

The girls took four wrestlers to Greybull, placed two and placed sixth as a team out of ten. Individual placers were:

Champions: 106 Dayne Humes, pinned his way to the finals, where he won by major decision, 9-0 to place first; 138 Richie Allison made his way into the finals, where he won with a pin in 3:39 to place first; 145 Trenton Sheehan pinned his way into the finals, where he won by major decision, 11-2 to take the championship; 152 Chris Boardman wrestled a tough match in the finals, winning by decision, 9-4 to take first; 182 Wyatt Allred pinned his way into the finals, where he won by decision, 8-5 to take the championship; 195 Dane Connally pinned his way into the finals, where he had an exciting match, winning with another pin in 4:53 to take first.

Second Place: 126 Braydnn Terry pinned his way into the finals, where he fought a tough match, losing by decision to place second; 170 James Long made his way into the finals, where he came up short, losing by decision to place second.

Third Place: 120 Kaden Haynes pinned his way to the semifinals, where he lost by fall to move him into the placings, where he won by pin to place third; 145 Riley DeHaven pinned his way to the semifinals, where he lost to put him in the placings, there, he won with a pin in 2:50 to place third; 160 Braizyn Humpal won his first two rounds by pin and major decision, lost in the semifinals to be moved into the placings, where he won by major decision, 11-2 to place third; 220 Oliver Gorsuch won his first two rounds, lost in the semifinals and won his placing match by pin in 4:18 to place third.

Fourth Place: 106 Kade Haynes pinned his way into the semifinals, where he lost to move him into the placings, there, he lost by decision to place fourth; Cade Williams won his first two rounds, lost in the semifinals to move into the placings, where he lost to place fourth; 138 Trenten Gray won his first two rounds by pin and decision, lost in the semifinals to put him in for placings, where he lost to place fourth.

Fifth Place: 120 Shane Hannah lost his quarterfinals match to put him on the consolation side, where he won his next two matches by pin to put him into the placings; there, he won by pin in 2:52 to place fifth; 126 Wyatt Pennington lost in the quarterfinals and came back to win his next three matches by decision, 7-2, sudden victory, 8-6 and by decision, 5-0 to place fifth.

Sixth Place: 113 Weston Haskell lost in the quarterfinals by decision, 17-12, won in the consolation semifinals by pin in 1:55 to move him into the placings, where he lost to place sixth. 152 Marcus James lost his first match and worked his way back into placings by winning his next three matches. There, he lost by fall to place sixth.

Girls

Second Place: 115 Rebekah Anderson won her semifinals match by pin in 2:57 to advance into the finals, where she lost to place second.

Fourth Place: 145 Aurora Studie lost her semifinals match, came back to win her consolation semifinals match with a pin in 2:27 to put her in the placings, where she lost to place fourth.

The girls placed sixth with 26 team points behind fifth place Wright with 28 points.

JV

Second Place: 138 Jacob Anderson won his quarterfinals and semifinals match to advance into the finals, where he lost by decision, 6-0 to place second.

Third Place: 132 Craig Robinson lost his semifinals match, came back and won his consolation semifinals with a pin in 1:32 and won his placings match with a pin in 0:54 to place third.

The team placed first with 269 team points over second place Wind River with 156.5 points and third place Wright with 124.5 points. High scorers for the Wolves were Dayne Humes and Trenton Sheehan, both with 29 points; followed by Dane Connally with 28 team points.

In individual stats for the tournament, Shane Hannah placed second for the most pins in the least amount of time with four pins in 9:27; followed by Kaden Haynes placing sixth with three pins in 3:02. Spencer Cuthrell placed first for the fastest pin in 0:08.

Next up for the Wolves wrestling team is the Powder River Conference Duals which will include schools from, Moorcroft, Wright, Sundance, Hulett and Tongue River this Thursday, February 9, at Moorcroft High School. The first duals will start at 3 p.m. and will be on a rolling schedule.
