Lady Wolves beat Herders

On Friday evening, the Lady Wolves traveled to Newcastle to take on the Dogies. The game was quick from the opening tip with Newcastle leading 12 to 5 after the first quarter.

Newcastle stepped it up in the second and third quarters, holding the Wolves to single digits. The Lady Wolves found some ground in the fourth quarter while outscoring the Dogies, but Newcastle finished the game out with a 50 to 22 victory.

We got off to a slow start and our shots weren’t falling. I thought our defense was good, but we had some offensive challenges that we weren’t able to overcome.

The Lady Wolves didn’t have much time to dwell on the game the night before, when they were again on the road to take on the Glenrock Herders. We knew going into their place that we would have to get off to a good start and we did that.

The Wolves led, 12-8 at the end of the first quarter. Glenrock came back and tied the game at 20 going into the half.

We made some defensive adjustments at halftime and executed them in the third quarter, holding Glenrock to only ten points while scoring 16. The fourth quarter saw the Lady Wolves take a lead with under two minutes to go, only to see Glenrock come back to tie the game at 40.

The Lady Wolves executed on their final possession of the game and stopped the Lady Herders on theirs. The Wolves held on for the 45-42 victory.

I was really pleased with how we played on the defensive side of the ball. Again, good defense led to good offense and we found open shots and knocked them down. It was good to go on the road in a tough environment and get a victory.

The Lady Wolves have a busy week ahead of them when they travel to Wright on Tuesday and then host Sundance on Friday and Buffalo on Saturday.

Come out and support your Moorcroft Wolves!
