Pine Haven Mayor Karla Brandenburg informally delegated committee liaisons at last Tuesday’s workshop, ensuring any concerns or potential problems could be mitigated and the position explained before formalizing the arrangements at Tuesday night’s meeting.
Rob Norton was asked and later accepted the liaison with public affairs, fire, EMS, legal and finance; Suzette Edwards will link with the community center and senior committees; Kristy Speed will continue with the recreation board; and mayor pro-tem Emily Smith will cooperate with planning and zoning as well and the cemetery board.
The mayor is initiating a new committee to manage information for infrastructure such as water and sewer, streets and improvements.
“[These] are part of our [council’s] responsibilities so I think it would be important to have a committee to keep track of that stuff like…deciding what streets we’re going to do – someone who will report to us,” she said.
She plans to liaison with this new committee herself, stating, “I like to…be involved in the new ones.”
Brandenburg went on to explain what is expected of a liaison, assuring the council members that they are simply the information conduit between the governing body and the committees. She then asked each if they were comfortable with their assignments and, with no questions or concerns expressed, the mayor’s appointments were approved at the meeting of said council Tuesday night.
