Friday morning was the first real taste of winter in Crook County and along with the wind, rain and snow came risks for travelers on icy roads.
This is what happened to a 72-year-old Osage man, driving a 2014 Nisson Frontier westbound on US Highway 16 during the early morning hours. He lost control of his vehicle near mile marker 203, a short distance west of Moorcroft, when the automobile lost traction and exited the roadway to the right and down the embankment, tripping and rolling three quarters of a full revolution before coming to rest on the other side of the right-of-way.
The driver was wearing his seatbelt and sustained only minor injuries that were treated at the scene.
This was a single car accident with no citations. The weather and road conditions were considered the cause. The individual’s name has been withheld.
