Residents who are depositing yard waste, predominantly leaves, into the streets are advised of their responsibility to keep the municipal roadways clear of such waste that fouls the drains.
This problem faced the public works team earlier in the year with police verbally warning and ticketing those who did not clear their lawn clippings. Leaves fall under this rule as well and will be addressed with the same redress in the future.
The council discussed the matter at the Monday night meeting and realized that this week’s yard cleaning will probably be the last before winter sets in earnest. Mayor Ben Glenn advised, “I don’t see us having to address the leaves too bad because, in another week, they’re going to be going away.”
