Julie Ann Cox of Pine Haven faces felony possession charges after THC was allegedly found in her residence when a Crook County Sheriff’s deputy made contact in reference to a warrant for her arrest.
On September 28, the deputy was sent to a Pine Haven residence in reference to a wanted person. He reports being greeted at the door by Cox, who he knew from previous contact.
The deputy advised Cox that there was a warrant for her arrest and entered the residence to assist with gathering the medications she needed. A purse was allegedly sitting on the bed in plain view containing a dispensary container bearing a THC warning label.
According to the deputy, a clear container of marijuana was next to the purse.
As Cox is on probation/parole and subject to bond conditions from her recent release from the Campbell County jail, the deputy states in his report that she is subject to warrantless searches if officers have reasonable suspicion.
The deputy knew this was the case, he says in his report, due to a call to the residence three days earlier for a domestic violence report, at which time she provided her bond conditions and a consent to search form and a search resulted in a citation for possession of methamphetamine.
The deputy performed a search and allegedly found further items related to the use of controlled substances, including dispensary packages and pipes. Cox was transported to the Crook County Detention Center, where the substance found during the search allegedly returned a presumptive positive for THC.
Cox has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, fourth or subsequent offense, a felony carrying a maximum penalty of five years’ incarceration, a $5000 fine or both.
