The Moorcroft Wolves had some great competition at the Gillette volleyball tournament at the beginning of the season. We faced 4A and 3A teams and it helped our team step up competitively.
The team went 2-4 for the weekend, but I am proud of our effort. It was fun to see our girls compete at the next level of play.
This was a learning experience for us and will continue to make us stronger as a team. Every team we faced, we stepped up and made it a close match, and that was huge for us.
Out of over 24 teams, we made the silver bracket, which was our goal – to make one of the top two brackets. I am proud of our effort and looking forward to the last preseason tournament in Rawlins coming up.
The individual scores were as follows.
Moorcroft 2 Newcastle 0 = 25-19, 25-19; St. Thomas More 2 3A Moorcroft 0 = 25-21, 25-20; 4A Cheyenne Central 2 3A Moorcroft 1 = 18-25, 25-16, 25-17; Moorcroft 2 Spearfish 0 - 25-21, 25-23; Buffalo 2 Moorcroft 0 = 25-22, 25-22; 4A Campbell County 2 3A Moorcroft 0 = 25-22, 25-22.
The Moorcroft volleyball team went to the Rawlins tournament over this weekend and placed sixth out of 16 teams in the 3A tournament.
The first day, in pool play, Moorcroft went 5-1 with the scores of Moorcroft 1 Rawlins 1 (21-23, 18-21), Moorcroft 2 Worland 0 (21-13, 21-18), and Moorcroft 2 Lander 0 (21-9, 21-16). We placed first in our pool and made it into the gold bracket.
On Saturday, the Wolves saw Buffalo first with the scores of Buffalo 2 Moorcroft 1 (19-21, 21-13, 15-12). Then Moorcroft faced #4 Powell, sweeping them in two sets (21-15, 21-17). Last, Moorcroft saw #1 Lyman, with the scores of Lyman 2 Moorcroft 1 (21-14, 17-21, 15-8).
We had another great weekend seeing tough competition. This was a fun preseason tournament for us, and we are ready to start our conference play this week!
