The Voice of the Community Since 1909, Serving Moorcroft and Pine Haven, Wyoming
Saturday's Pine Haven Days Parade was a great hit with 26 entries, including Grand Marshals Bruce and Linda Lang, who have lived in the Pine Haven area since 1981, a couple of years before the town was incorporated.
Linda later said of the experience, "I was very flattered to be one of the Grand Marshals. This is our home, our community and our family."
As the procession lined out, bags were open and contestants were hydrated and slathered with sunscreen as they prepared for the candy haul challenge.
After the parade, many sacks were so weighed down that the handles stretched as the kids carried them home; a situation in which Carson McCue and friend Jerica Glasser found themselves with no argument as they proudly walked home.
After the parade ended, people moved into Waters Park to settle in for the Northeast Wyoming Walleye Association (NEWWA)'s Fish Fry fundraiser.
According to co-organizer Sharon Coleman, more that 600 meals were served and every youngster finished the day with a fishing pole or tackle box to take home and ten of them winning a grand prize.
Adult Grand Prize winners were Mark and Sharon Coleman and Corey Grimshaw, taking home the custom built AR15 and the Weatherby Vanguard 6.5 Creedmore. The Traeger Ironwood 885 smoker was won by Brad Hazard.
"Another great turnout!" Coleman later said of the event, "We raised $20,000 with the live and silent auctions and fish tickets for NEWWA."
