Competition strong for school and hospital boards
Almost every district-level seat set to appear on the ballot at the upcoming general election will be contested. This November, voters will be asked to make their choices for the school, medical services, natural resource, museum and senior citizen service districts.
All district seats are non-partisan. Candidate sign-up closed on Monday.
For Crook County School District, four trustee seats will be elected at the general and almost three times that number of candidates have put their names forward. All trustees will serve four-year terms.
Brian Neiman, Hannah Ista and Lyle Hartman will stand for the Hulett seat. For the Moorcroft seat, the candidates include Chase C. Williams and Steven J. Allred.
Six candidates will vie for the three at-large seats, including D. Marlene Edwards, Steven M. Blakeman, Katarina Koep, Daniel E. Schutt, Elizabeth Nelson and Toby Connelly.
Three trustee seats will be available for the Crook County Medical Services District: one for Hulett (unexpired two-year term) and two at-large, both of which will serve a four-year term.
Sandy Neiman and Bob Richey will stand for the Hulett seat. Candidates for the at-large seats include Brent Fowler and Mark Koep.
Two trustees will be elected for the Crook County Senior Citizen Service District, both for four-year terms. Candidates include Terry Wilkerson, Lilly Ann Bankenbush and Bonnie Klein.
Two rural district supervisors will be elected to serve four-year terms with the Crook County Natural Resource District, for which Kim Fundaun and Wanda Burget have put their names forward. No candidates have filed for the unexpired two-year urban district supervisor seat.
Three trustees will be elected to serve four-year terms for the Crook County Museum District. Andrea Wood and Amy Goodson have filed to appear on the ballot for one of these seats.
