Dumping schedule

The new schedule for the construction and demolition (C&D) pit as well as the burn pit at the former municipal landfill is Tuesday and Thursday, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and every third Saturday, from 9 a.m. until noon.

The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) enforces a list of specific allowable items to be dumped into these holes. At this time, the agency has not provided this information to the town, but Public Works Director Cory Allison assures residents the list will be made available as soon as he has it and people who intend to utilize these provisions are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the information.

In the meantime, there are a couple of rules to remember: absolutely no treated or painted wood and no plywood or nailed timber (essentially, no construction waste at all) is to be dumped in this pit. Only yard waste is allowed and said material is not to be discarded in plastic bags.
