The Voice of the Community Since 1909, Serving Moorcroft and Pine Haven, Wyoming
Thirty two young adults graduated from Moorcroft High School (MHS) Sunday evening, reaching the most commonly recognized milestone into adulthood.
The excitement and cheerful attitude shared by these former high school students was tangible as they bumped fists and joked with each other and with Principal Kirby Baier as he introduced speakers and presented diplomas.
Senior Class President Char Cranston welcomed fellow graduates and thanked staff and teachers for their kindnesses over the years with sagacious and anecdotal comments.
Salutatorian Kaytlynn McAllister was cheered as she stepped to the stage and gave an emotion-filled speech, thanking her family and people with whom she worked at MHS for helping her through her high school years.
Valedictorian KyAnne Petz followed suit with graciousness as she brought notice to the teachers and staff member who made a difference in her high school life. She, who had told a morning "joke of the week" provided by principal Baier to the entire school over the intercom, was asked to share one more: "When the pirate graduated, why didn't he make the A Honor Roll? All of his grades were in the high Cs."
Two schoolmates who could not graduate with their fellows were recognized with solemn expressions of loss and remembrance before the living moved on.
Many of these graduates are moving on to further education in a classroom setting, while others are entering into the workforce right away. Future welders, flight attendants, art teachers, neuroscientists, journeymen, linemen, nurses, veterinarians, lawyers, electrical engineers, coaches/physical therapists, accountants and more graduated from MHS Sunday night.
