Whitcomb FFA held its 2nd annual drift trike race and show at Moorcroft High School last Friday and Saturday. Drift trike projects are a great way to combine our learning in our small engines class and welding classes to create a really cool project that challenges the students' learning and problem solving skills.
The students need to develop and design a trike and then fabricate that trike from their plans. Using engines either purchased or fixed and an axle kit, the trikes start to take form.
This year we had seven trikes in all to include a trike all the way from Lusk! Garett Borton from Newcastle brought three of his drag cars and even his light tree.
The students had a great time drag racing and then testing their skills on a track. They got to rub shoulders with those who work in the industry, and see and hear the engines run.
What an amazing time and we appreciate all who supported and helped.
