Moorcroft Mayor Ben Glenn and council members have been sorting and interviewing the six candidates who applied for the vacant seat on the municipal council and will be inviting one to swear in and sit down to business with the governing body at the next meeting, which is at 7 p.m., on Monday, February 28.
Individuals who applied for the post with letters of interest included Rosalie Brimmer, Johnny Faye Claar, Nancy Feehan, Robert Trigg, Trent Conley and Dusty Petz.
The seat became vacant the first part of February with the resignation of former mayor Dick Claar due to health issues. Mayor Pro-Tem Ben Glenn was then appointed to the remaining term of mayor, which is up for election this year.
Along with the mayoral seat, every other seat on the council for Moorcroft will be open this year, according to clerk Cheryl Schneider, who verified this unusual occurrence with the county clerk’s office.
The primary election will be held in August and the general elections in November.
