The Voice of the Community Since 1909, Serving Moorcroft and Pine Haven, Wyoming
The Wolves wrestling team traveled to Lusk this past Friday to wrestle in the Tiger Invitational. Bad weather and bad roads caused a few teams to back out last minute, but six teams made the trip and the full day of wrestling.
Moorcroft’s team consists of 33 wrestlers this year, led by six seniors.
Individual results were:
First Place-
106 Dayne Humes went 5-0, winning all his matches by pin; 126 Braydnn Terry went 3-0, winning his matches by pin or tech fall; 138 Trenton Sheehan went 1-1; 170 James Long went 4-1.
Second Place-
120 Wyatt Cook went 3-1; 126 Trenten Gray went 1-2; 132 Tucker Cook went 1-2; 152 Dakota Tobin went 2-1; 285; Oliver Gorsuch went 2-1, winning both by pin.
Third Place-
132 Kaden Haynes got injured and injury defaulted out of the tournament; 138 Randy Peters went 1-1; Jacob Anderson went 3-2; 152 Christopher Boardman went 1-2; 160 Spencer Cuthrell went 3-2; 195 Kevin Stone went 0-2.
Fourth Place-
106 Kade Haynes went 2-3; 113 Rebekah Anderson went 1-3; 120 Cade Williams went 1-3; 145 Marcus James went 2-3; 160 Wyatt Allred went 2-3; 170 Sterling Norris went 2-3, wrestling with a broken hand.
Fifth Place-
106 Weston Haskell went 1-5; 120 Craig Robinson; 160 Dima Haskell went 3-2.
As a team, the Wolves placed first out of six teams with 145.5 points followed by second place, Niobrara County with 97.5 and third place Saratoga with 89.0 team points. High scorers for Wolves were Dayne Humes with 26 followed by James Long with 23 and Braydnn Terry with 19.5 team points.
Individual tournament statistics were: Dayne Humes placed first with the most pins in the least amount of time with five pins in 7:51 and for the team, they placed first with the most pins in the least amount of time with 32 pins in 34:06.
After the tournament the team traveled to Chadron, Nebraska to watch the Chadron State Eagles Wrestling duals against San Francisco State and the University of Nebraska-Kearney. There, they got to watch and cheer on former teammate Rowdy Pfeil wrestle for the Eagles.
Up next for the wolves are the Wright Dual Tournament in Wright this Saturday the 18th starting at 8:30 a.m.
