The Voice of the Community Since 1909, Serving Moorcroft and Pine Haven, Wyoming
Quite a few attended the Moorcroft Area Chamber of Commerce (MACC)-sponsored Harvest Feastival this year, enjoying the opportunity to visit without distancing or masks, vaccinated and unvaccinated mixing.
Fourteen different homemade soups were contributed for the event, including hamburger stew, cabbage pork potato, bacon cheeseburger and broccoli cheese to name only a few; with bread, corn bread and biscuits for sides and water to drink, the meal was warm, filling and tasty. Of the soups offered, guests voted the broccoli cheese from Coffee Cup Fuel Stop as "People's Choice".
The business expo hosted only a fraction of the vendors of previous years, but those who did participate displayed many fine items for sale.
Master of Ceremony (MC) Charity Stewart was an engaging character throughout the evening as she distributed door prizes donated by local businesses and individuals to those holding winning tickets. In the two games played for prizes, Kelsey Kaufman held the $500 cash ticket and Susan Millard guessed the number of goodies in the jar.
A multitude of gift collections as well as individual items were donated for the silent auction and potential bidders examined these things carefully before writing their bid or moving on. All proceeds from this auction support the Christmas Basket Project and Thanksgiving turkeys.
Volunteers Bernadette Elberson, Stacey Avery, Janet Stahla and Wendy Osmotherly from Pinnacle Bank met guests at the door, the Moorcroft High School National Honor Society's Deb Harrison, Lynsey Gray, Katie Cuthrell, Kennedy Sheehan, KyAnna Petz and Talissa Fischbach served soup and two volunteers from Upton High School, Alexis McMaster and Avery Burr, manned the bread table.
Event co-organizer Elaine Buckmiller later said, "All in all, the Feastival committee was pleased with the turnout."
