Early Saturday morning, as Ray Adams, daughters Nadia and Breezie Lynn and friend Kelsy Dawson were walking along North Big Horn Avenue, they found one of the US flags that had been torn from its moors on the ground, muddied and lifeless. Adams retrieved the banner and took the opportunity to teach the girls something about respect for this representation of blood and honor.
He and Nadia folded the soiled cloth as the group discussed the process of retiring Old Glory to the fire. In a day of celebration, a quiet lesson learned.
