As this school season drew to a close last week, kindergartners through fifth and sixth grade enjoyed a “field day” on the Wolves’ football field on Tuesday. The many youngsters spent the afternoon participating and competing in three legged races, tug-of-war and a plethora of other games.
Parents watched from the sidelines as the kids wore off a school year’s worth of energy filling buckets with a sponge, playing tag as a snake, whipping each other with pool noodles and more.
The smiles and laughter was contagious, as could be witnessed by the reciprocating expressions on the faces of passers-by.
The day was not over, though, as participants departed from the field; they came together again that evening to entertain an audience in the MK8 gymnasium with a concert. Guests were finding seats early and by the opening music, there was only standing room along the walls.
Starting with Kindergarten, each class up to sixth grade followed with rousing tunes that brought applause from the listeners.
The program was enjoyed by everyone with kids tapping their toes to the music as they sang and parents moving to sit on the floor before the stage to take pictures when their children’s class found their place on the bleachers.
As the day ended, kids and parents walked to their vehicles, tired and pleased as evidenced by their smiles and quiet conversation, having made it through another year of school.
