Wolves show well at Sundance meet

The Moorcroft Wolves traveled the shortest distance all season for their final regular season track and field meet in Sundance. Arriving just a little earlier than the other teams, the Wolves set up their den and made their way as a pack onto the field for their warm-up. The meet was on.

In the 100 meter dash women’s race, Natalee Scribner earned fourth place with the time of 15.06, KateLynn Blakeman earned a fifth place finish with the time of 15.24. Kyan Meet ran the race in 17.34 seconds and Angel Zahn came in with the time of 19.08. 

In the men’s race, James Long ran a 13.54, just shy of placing. Kaden Haynes ran a 13.83 for his first meet of the season. Wyatt Allred sprinted to a 16.11 second finish with Richie Allison right on his heels with a 17.85 finish.  

In the 200 meter dash men’s race, James sprinted to a 27.44 second finish and Kaden with a 28.18 finish, and Kane Goff with a 31.24 finish. In the women’s race, Kaylee Terry snatched up second place with a 29.25 finish, Scribner took fourth with a time of 30.77, Blakeman took fifth with the time of 30.78, Joslyn VonOlnhausen took the final scoring place with an eighth place finish and a time of 31.49. Zahn came in with the time of 43.07.

In the 400 meter dash, Kaylee Terry secured a spot at the state meet by running her race in the time of 1:03.16, taking first place and exceeding the State Qualifying Standard. On the men’s side, Goff ran his 400 meters in the time of 1:08.01 and Allred came in right after with the time of 1:09.13.

In the 800 meter men’s race, Evan Jones earned a sixth place finish with the time of 2:31.61, Goff finished in 2:42.26. In the women’s 800 Meter, Mallory Jones ran away a second place finish with the time of 2:33.72 and Amasa Gerstner took eighth place with the time of 3:22.03.

In the 1600 meter race, Mallory Jones took second again with the time of 5:25.34 and Gerstner took seventh place with the time of 7:25.68. In the men’s race, Marcus James took seventh place with the time of 5:29.62 and Evan Jones took eighth with the time of 5:29.65.

Char Cranston ran away with a gold medal finish in the 100 meter hurdles with the time of 18.93 and Blakeman took the bronze with a time of 20.30.  Cranston took a third place medal in the 300 meter hurdles with the time of 54.17.

The Wolves had representatives in the men’s and women’s SMR (2-2-4-8) relay. The women’s team of Blakeman, Cranston, Terry and Mallory Jones ran an impressive race running it in 4:32.69, just over 12 seconds faster than their fastest SMR this season.

The men’s team of Haynes, Long, Goff and James ran their first SMR and finished in the time of 4:31.67, earning a fourth place finish. 

In the field events, tossing the shot put, Dakota Tobin earned a fourth place finish with a put of 35’ 3”.  Long put the shot 28’ 9”, Richie Allison put the Shot 27’ 3”, Isaiah Erickson put the Shot 25’ 5” and Allred put the shot 21’ 4”. 

Cranston flew through the air in the long jump to land a fourth place finish with a leap of 13’ 9.5”.  VonOlnhausen landed 12’ 2” into the sand, Scribner made her mark with an 11’ 3.25 jump and Kyan Meek took a leap of 9’ 7”. 

Finally, in the discus throw, Erickson had the  best throw with the distance of 74;4”, Tobin threw the discus 72’ 5”, Allison made the disc fly 62’ 10” and Allred landed the bird 58’ 9” from the ring.

The Wolves will travel to Torrington for the 2021 1A/2A/3A East Regional Track and Field Meet May 14 and 15.
