On Thursday, the Wolves Boys Basketball team hosted the Sundance Bulldogs in the first round of the district tournament. The Wolves entered the game as the #4 seed in the district and the Bulldogs as the #1 seed.
The Bulldogs have been playing well and entered the contest with only one loss all year. We knew we were going to have to play well to make this a game.
We really stepped it up on the defensive end and at the end of the first quarter, trailed, 13-7. The second quarter was a struggle for both teams and at half the Bulldogs took a 22-11 lead into halftime.
In the second half, we came out and tried to pressure them a little, but they are a good disciplined basketball team and they stretched the lead to 38-20 after the third quarter. The fourth quarter was played pretty even and the Bulldogs went on to win this contest, 46-29.
I thought we played well defensively, but, unfortunately for us, we didn’t play well offensively. None of our shots were falling and I give Sundance a lot of credit for their defense.
This was a win-and-go-to-state game so this marks the end of our season. I am really proud of all the boys for all their hard work and effort this year.
This is a great group of young men who represented their school, family, friends, fans and town really well. We look forward to putting in the work this offseason that it takes to be successful and come back strong next season. This is a great community that supported us all year.
