Sundance came back in the second half and was able to cut the lead to 42-40. The Lady Wolves regrouped and were able to pull out a 49-45 victory. Rivalry games are always competitive and this game was no exception.
On Friday, the Lady Wolves saw the Southeast Cyclones come to town for only their second home game of the season. The Junior Varsity team started the day off right with a 31-20 victory.
They were able to lock down on defense and get the looks that they needed. It was a good, solid team effort by them to secure the victory.
The varsity game saw Moorcroft battle on the defensive end and take a 21-17 lead into the half. We made some adjustments defensively in an effort to slow down their tall post.
The game was back and forth before the Lady Wolves were able to secure the 37-35 victory. I thought we got the stops we needed to get when we had to.
The Lady Wolves traveled to Tongue River on Saturday to culminate the three-game week. The Junior Varsity team ran into an Eagle team that outsized them and found themselves behind, 22-11.
Adjustments were made at halftime and they were able to continue to compete, but came up short and lost, 25-46. The Varsity game began with a quick start by the Lady Wolves for a 28-17 halftime lead. Tongue River came back in the second half and the end of the game saw both teams exchanging baskets. The Lady Wolves were able to pull out the 53-52 victory.
Overall, we had three tough games in three days and I thought we really gave good effort. With the way that we like to play on the defensive end, we have to be in good condition and all of these girls just go.
They show up every day in practice and work their tails off. They don’t complain, they just do what needs to be done.
The Lady Wolves travel to Wright on Thursday before ending the week with Lusk on Saturday in Moorcroft. Come out and support your Moorcroft Wolves!
