Wolves go into holiday break on top

On Thursday, the Wolves boys basketball team opened their home slate of games against the Glenrock Herders. It was senior night and the boys were excited to play in front of their home crowd.

We knew going into the game we were going to have to play well to come out on top. The boys jumped out early on the Herders and at the end of the first quarter the Wolves led, 17-7. We started out full court pressing them and continued throughout the game.

At half, the Wolves took a 31-16 edge to the locker room. The third quarter saw a good back and forth battle and going into the fourth quarter the Wolves were up, 44-29.

The Herders kept fighting into the fourth, but the Wolves ended up being too much for them in the end as the boys would win their home opener, 56-39.

I thought we pressured them well and created some easy opportunities for ourselves on the offensive end. We did a lot of things right, but have many things we can continue to improve on.

The eight seniors who were celebrated on Thursday night were Kaiden Blakeman, Lane Wood, Clay Stripp, Tatum Semlek, Daniel Bryant, Jadon Weeda, Gavin Bohannon and Caden Connally.

The Wolves will have a long holiday break and will resume practice on December 28. They will be back in action in Hulett on January 7.
