The Voice of the Community Since 1909, Serving Moorcroft and Pine Haven, Wyoming
Intrepid ghouls, ghosties, witches and dragons put on their best hats and joined the fun over the weekend as Moorcroft and Pine Haven celebrated All Hallows Eve; a day when the dead are thought to revisit their old haunts. However, the creatures at these parties all had heartbeats (well, we assume).
Friday evening’s Treat Street started the festivities with around 200 guests enjoying the frights of the mad doctor’s lair and the many disturbing monsters on hand. The games, as always, were great fun for participants as they won congratulatory goodies and smiles.
Linus, Snoopy and the Great Pumpkin were the theme for the not-so-spooky spook house and many youngsters were lined up throughout the evening to test their nerve.
Trick or Treat Street director Angie Peters was very pleased with this year’s volunteers, saying, “I’ve had such good help; they’ve been just wonderful.” She noted that the haunted house was finished in record time due to all the help.
Then, Saturday afternoon saw a plethora of young Pine Haven zombies, devils and workers of the macabre were entertained by games provided by the recreation board, tasty treats donated by Sharon Coleman and music to which even the dead can dance at the newly established community center.
Recreation board president Misha Sitter planned and directed the event and, with the help of other volunteers, the entire occasion was a success to the delight of around 45 guests. Sitter later said, “The town definitely supported us. They were excited that we were doing an event for the kiddos. I hope next year we can do something similar!”
